Imogen and Jaxon Tulk travelled to Sydney last weekend to compete in 40th Anniversary Shinkyokushin National Full-Contact Karate Championships 2017
Imogen came up against a strong opponent in the first round with both girls performing some well timed strikes and effective counter attacks. A draw in this round showed them fighting again for a further two minutes.
Each of them started off strong with some good knee strikes from Imogen. Imogen's opponent showed some signs of tiring and strong stamina from Imogen showed her winning by a unanimous decision and going forward to the finals.
Imogen again performed well in the finals with some strong thigh kicks. Despite some very close head kicks from her opponent she continued to force her opponent backwards and was awarded the win.
Jaxon came out strong but unfortunately a well timed strike to the mid section stopped him short in the first 10 seconds.
Both students are commended for their dedication and determination to their training. Hopefully they both learnt from the experience and came away with some new ideas on how to better move, be more dynamic in their strikes and how to avoid the same repeated attacks.
