Duane Franke placed a very commendable second in this tournament. Despite coming up against a heavier opponent in the finals the fights were well matched with strong, fast kicks to the thighs demonstrated by both competitors. Strong punches were also seen from both men with the final having to go to a second round. This was again a very close fight with the opponent being awarded the win.
Joel Crook received a very worthy first place in his first return to competition after time off following injuries. He has worked very hard over the last 6 months to increase his strength and stamina and this has clearly paid off. Joel's speed and technique continues to improve with some strong head kicks demonstrated. Joel was awarded a wazari in the final.
Imogen Tulk continues to gain experience against a great mix of competitors. She fought against some very strong opponents to make it to the final gaining a wazari in one of her rounds for a well timed knee kick. The final saw her up against a very strong opponent with both girls showing well timed strikes and counter attacks. It was a close fight, but Imogen proved to be the stronger competitor overall and was awarded 1st place.
Penny Farrell fought well in elder division again, against a heavier more experienced fighter coming back stronger and faster after her opponent was awarded a wazari for a well placed thigh kick. Unfortunately she did not goes to final but has gained valuable experience.
Jaxon Tulk continues to improve each tournament. He came out very strong and managed some well placed kicks. Unfortunately he was unable to continue after a collision with his opponents knee to the shin.
