Our junior competitors showed a huge amount of dedication in the lead up to the tournament, training hard in both kumite and kata practice. Jake, Summer and Penny represented the dojo in Kata. Competition was tough, particularly in the younger age groups with Jake Johns taking out 2nd in his division. All three performed their kata's well and gained valuable experience. All five students competed in Kumite with the lower age groups being well presented with a large number of entrants. This meant several fights for Summer and Jake who performed well both placing 3rd in their age groups. Jaxon fought to the best of his ability increasing his kumite knowledge and placing 2nd. Both Penny and Imogen were faced with late competitor withdrawals and subsequently had to change divisions. Penny agreed to fight in the male division and put in a stellar performance with some very hard thigh kicks. She placed a very worthy 2nd. Imogen overcame her nerves and agreed to step up to the female adult division. Whilst there was only one other competitor it was a huge leap with Imogen facing off against a much older, more experienced Shodan. Both ladies fought extremely well making it a tough bout for both. Imogen picked up the pace in the second round with lots of low kicks, strength and determination to gain a well deserved win. Well done to all competitors Osu! |
